New Zealand singer songwriter Phil Madsen is the second youngest of a musical family of eight children. No stranger to the stage, the multi instrumentalist has been performing since the age of four.

Recognised for his extraordinary vocal range and compelling stage presence, Phil has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the global music industry, including Air Supply, Cher, Hank Marvin, Hootie and the Blowfish, The Pointer Sisters, Spandau Ballet, and Boyzlife. Most recently, Phil was invited to join legendary acoustic guitar virtuoso Tommy Emmanuel on his latest New Zealand tour, taking to the stage to perform classics made famous by artists like John Farnham and Dragon.

Phil’s versatility has also seen him step into the spotlight alongside Eddie Rayner for the acclaimed ENZO tour in Australia and New Zealand, performing the iconic songs of Split Enz backed by an 18 piece orchestra. His emotional, high powered performances earned rave reviews across Aotearoa:

"Madsen's voice is incredible, not only for range but also intensity – Stuff and Nonsense, I Hope I Never and Edible Flowers were heart rending."

— Patrick Shepherd, Stuff

"Phil’s voice and range was excellent and, dare I say it, sounded better at times than the original artist."

— David Boyle, The 13th Floor

An accomplished artist in his own right, Phil has achieved two Top 20 hits and was awarded Top Male Vocalist at the New Zealand Variety Artist Awards. His self produced catalog includes two studio albums, Mr Yellow Tree and This World. His single "Dancing on the Moon" earned a prestigious top five APRA Silver Scroll nomination, while the title track "This World" climbed to number one on the iTunes Singer Songwriter charts.

Beyond large scale concert tours and headlining major public events such as the America’s Cup celebrations, Coca Cola Christmas in the Park, and the SKYCITY Starlight Symphony, Phil remains deeply rooted in his local community. For over 25 years, he has been a fixture of Auckland's local music scene, particularly at the Mission Bay Taproom. Driven by his self coined mantra "Every Sunday for the rest of my life," Phil has soundtracked generations of local lives, from first dates and weddings to family milestones.

At the heart of Phil’s career is a commitment to giving back through music. He actively supports charitable organizations across New Zealand, contributing his time and musical expertise to the Cure Kids NZ event circuit and the UpsideDowns Education Trust, helping raise vital funds and awareness for Kiwi kids and their families.

Whether delivering show stopping performances on national stages, recording in the studio, or creating memorable moments at private events, Phil Madsen continues to connect people through the power of song.
